The UNM Department of Pediatrics is committed to advancing the health and wellbeing of children in New Mexico and around the world through innovative research on the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases that impact children. 

The Pediatrics Office of Research promotes research opportunities for all faculty, staff, and learners in our department and the broader health sciences community. The Office supports the department’s divisions and programs by providing a centralized infrastructure for research administration support and education. 

Research Support Services

Our team offers a full spectrum of research support services and engages learners of all levels in research and scholarship. We provide guidance and assistance with:

• Identification of funding opportunities and review of sponsor guidelines
• Development, submission and monitoring of contracts and grants
• Budget preparation, ensuring compliance with University and sponsor guidelines
• UNM HSC research procedures/processes
• Support for IRB submissions and study management
• Guidance on HSC-required training for investigators/study team
• Expert knowledge on internal/external regulatory procedures, conflict of interest (COI), data use agreements (DUAs), material transfer agreements (MTAs), and confidential disclosure agreements (CDAs)
• Award set-up and management
• Regular financial and progress reports
• Identification of UNM HSC research cores and facilitation, including the Clinical and Translational Science Center (CTSC), Analytical and Translational Genomics Shared Resource (ATG), and Human Imaging Research Core (HIRC), among others
