UNMH’s Integrated Behavioral Health (IBH) Fellowship provides an excellent generalist training in an integrated behavioral health setting. Fellows will have a major rotation in a primary care setting, with the ability to customize their training by selecting 1-2 minor rotations in specialty care settings. The training experience provides an in-depth experience working at the intersection of medical and psychological issues including working with patients with a variety of common mental health diagnoses (i.e. anxiety, depression, insomnia, PTSD) as well exposure to patients with chronic pain and other chronic illnesses (i.e. diabetes, heart disease). Fellows will gain in-depth experience with short-term psychotherapy interventions as well as with consultation and collaboration within a cross-disciplinary team.
UNMH serves a population that is diverse in terms of presenting problem, ethnicity, race, tribal and cultural background, gender identity and sexuality, language, immigration status, socioeconomic status, and disability status. A fellowship at UNMH provides a unique opportunity for those working with underserved populations. We welcome applications from trainees of diverse backgrounds, valuing that their viewpoints and life experiences provide needed voices on the UNMH team and help meet the needs of the hospital’s diverse patient population.
The UNMH IBH fellowship program supports UNMH’s mission of creating high-quality, comprehensive care for members of our community. It is a clinically-focused fellowship. Fellows have the option to engage in a research-focused minor rotation if desired.
