Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in Clinical Preceptorships: Creating Learning Environments Where Underrepresented Aspiring Midwives Can Thrive
RSVP by December 6th
This workshop will present practical tools and strategies for fostering clinical learning environments where all students can thrive. Preceptors who attend will consider how to promote positive learning experiences for students of color and other underrepresented students through a “strengths-based” approach to clinical teaching. The importance of evaluating for bias will be discussed and strategies for how to accomplish this work on personal and institutional levels will be explored. With the goal of increasing, retaining and graduating underrepresented student midwives, participants will also identify and practice approaches to conflict mediation and preceptor feedback.
