Colin Buckley, MD
It is with great sorrow that the Department of Dermatology announces the passing of Colin Buckley, MD, on Jan. 25, 2015. Buckley entered the Biomedical Sciences Graduate Program as a PhD student at UNM in the fall of 1999. His dissertation studies focused on protein-protein interactions in cellular signaling systems and were conducted in the Department of Neurosciences. Following completion of his PhD in 2004, he matriculated into the UNM School of Medicine.
Buckley entered the School of Medicine Department of Dermatology’s residency program in July of 2011 and completed his training in July of 2014. He had recently become board certified.
Buckley excelled as a medical student and completed his MD in 2008. He served as senior medical scientist for LBSI. An accomplished researcher and inventor, Buckley co-authored six patent applications and advised the research and development effort for Sandia biomedical/research products.
Buckley was 43 years old. He is survived by his wife, Pam and three sons, and a host of family and friends.
A memorial service for Colin Buckley, MD, is scheduled Saturday, January 31, 1 p.m., at Heights First Church of the Nazarene, 8401 Paseo Del Norte Boulevard NE.
