UNM School of Medicine donors are some of the most dedicated and generous in the nation. They give their time, knowledge and insight by serving as community faculty members and providing the critical hands-on training and professional mentoring that transforms promising students into outstanding providers. They also provide philanthropic support to the students and school.
Whether you are passionate about supporting the next generation of health care providers for New Mexico and beyond, advancing scientific inquiry and discovery or empowering health educators, the UNM School of Medicine's development team can work with you to ensure your gift is targeted to support what inspires you.
The School of Medicine was established more than 50 years ago with the express purpose of educating physicians to serve the primary care and subspecialty medical needs of people in New Mexico. Over the years, the school has shaped its priorities to meet patients where they are, always being mindful of their unique concerns.
Today, it leverages its impact with targeted initiatives to improve child well-being, promote successful aging, tackle behavioral health and substance abuse concerns, and deliver high-quality, compassionate and comprehensive health care to our citizens.
Home to New Mexico’s only MD program and only academic health center, UNM is committed to delivering more doctors for New Mexico by developing the brightest and most compassionate students from New Mexico.
Delivering comprehensive health care is a team effort. The UNM School of Medicine offers outstanding health profession programs. Student physician assistants, physical therapists, emergency medical technicians, laboratory and radiological technologists, dental hygienists and occupational therapists learn and train alongside medical students to deliver increased access to health care, improved outcomes and greater patient satisfaction while enjoying excellent job stability, competitive wages and career flexibility.
Strong providers depend on strong science to deliver the most accurate diagnoses and effective treatments to their patients. The UNM School of Medicine is also home to a nationally ranked research enterprise and Biomedical Science Graduate Programs at the masters and PhD level with world-class scientific investigators and scholars whose discoveries and innovations deliver life-saving results for humanity.
The UNM School of Medicine’s greatest asset is the intense sense of purpose that motivates its students, residents, faculty, staff and alumni and friends. They well understand the important role they each have to play in promoting health and well-being in the state.
