Plastic, Hand & Burn Residency Program

Division Chief
Gregory Borah, MD, DMD, FACS

The mission of the UNM Plastic, Hand and Burn Surgery division is to provide excellent clinical care in all aspects of the specialty, and to use this clinical base to provide an excellent and well-balanced educational experience for trainees at all levels. Our goal is to provide outstanding training in Plastic Surgery including patient care, teaching, and research. We aim for an educational program we can be proud of, where all interested individuals have an opportunity to contribute and grow as teachers, mentors, learners, educators, researchers and administrators.

The Division of Plastic, Hand and Burn Surgery seeks to have our faculty, educational staff, and learners to feel respected, treated fairly, listened to, and accountable for the quality of the educational programs. Our aim is to provide a positive and supportive learning climate where individuals, regardless of level, are properly challenged to achieve their maximum potential personally and professionally. Above all, we want to achieve satisfaction from the accomplishments of our learners, as well as the full time and voluntary faculty. We are dedicated to educating the next generation of Plastic Surgeons to become exceptional clinicians, clear and insightful scientific thinkers, and generous citizens with unimpeachable ethical qualities. We seek to instill a dedicated, high quality spirit of service to the people of the State of New Mexico and beyond.
