We continue to partner with Explora Science Center whose awesome educators host & facilitate these engaging workshops!! There are lots of tools for you to use as you do your research or engineering project! You’ll participate in hands-on activities that will help you understand the process of inquiry, choose a topic, and begin to put your project plan together. There will also be a basic review of the Regeneron International Science & Engineering Fair (ISEF) Rules & Forms for Pre-College Research as well as all the important deadlines for the Central NM Science & Engineering Research Challenge.
For 4th-8th Grade Students. FREE! FUN! HANDS-ON! IN-PERSON AT EXPLORA SCIENCE CENTER! These workshops are intended for students who WILL be doing a research project with the intention of qualifying for the 2024 Central NM STEM Research Challenge (or the regional "science fair" in their area). Lots of tools for you to use as you do your science or engineering project! Hands-on activities using common household items will be facilitated by staff at Explora to help you understand the process of inquiry, choose a topic, and begin to put your own project together! Certificate of Participation upon completion.
More than one session will be offered. Each session is limited to 25 students. The weekday sessions are intended to offer a class field trip opportunity while meeting science and math standards, though individual students may also register for these sessions - space permitting.
This workshop is open to students from outside the Central NM SERC region. However, such students will need to be aware they need to consult with their regional fair director for rules & deadlines specific to their regional competition.
One (1) session hosted per date; two (2) dates have option of Explora educator coming to your TITLE 1 school; MUST commit to the 3.5 hours needed to complete the workshop
