The University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center (UNM Health Sciences) supports and encourages international travel by faculty, residents, fellows, staff, and undergraduate and graduate students for the purpose of furthering the educational, research, and service missions of UNM.
UNM Health Sciences personnel who plan to travel internationally on UNM Health Sciences-related business, are required to submit an online International Travel Application (log in with Health Sciences single-sign-on credentials) with necessary documentation, prior to travel. To ensure a smooth process, please submit application 6 weeks prior to desired travel date. Also, allow additional processing time if the country you are traveling through or to requires a Visa. The application will be reviewed by numerous Health Sciences individuals ahead of final approval by the EVP Health Sciences. Travel for personal reasons that is part of the UNM Health Sciences-related trip, will be reflected in the International Travel Application.
It is recommended that UNM travelers check the “status” of the country/countries that they plan to visit through the Travel Advisories section of the U.S. Department of State’s Webpage when planning their travel and immediately prior to departure. UNM Health Sciences maintains the right to restrict travel to regions with a heightened safety risk. During your trip, should you be traveling for personal reasons to a non-approved country, you will be asked to sign a UNM Office of the University Counsel legal form.
All travel involves risk, requiring individuals to be primarily responsible for their personal safety, security and health. With that said, UNM Health Sciences will assist to ensure your trip is safe and well planned.
