Quotes for Standard Workstations and Printers

The Health Sciences Center uses a standards-based computing support model to meet the IT needs of all faculty and staff. You must use standard hardware and software at all times to be eligible for support services.

These standard quotes are provided by the HSC CIO Office as a convenience for you to select and purchase a workstation or printer that will conform to the standards-based support model. If you have a problem purchasing from these quotes or would like to see if the configuration of the components can be changed, please contact us at quotes@salud.unm.edu, and a technology support representative will contact you.

The HSC imaging process will install the most recent approved version of the Mac OS X operating system. If you will be purchasing Parallels to run the Windows Operating system on your Mac, we recommend that you get 8gb of memory; otherwise, you may encounter performance issues.

 Xerox 3610 B&W Printer - This printer offers printing speeds of up to 47 ppm (letter) and is equipped with a Duplexer for two-sided printing capability. The quotes provided on this web page have been created in LoboMart and can be accessed by entering LoboMart, then opening the Dell punchout. When the punchout opens, click on Quotes located under the blue banner across the screen. When prompted for a quote number, enter the number from the quote from the PDF and click on Find Quote. When the quote appears, click on the Create Order Requisition button to make a purchase.
A collaborative effort between UNM Information Technologies (IT) and the HSC Chief Information Office has resulted in a strategic partnership agreement between Dell Computers and the University of New Mexico.  This new partnership will significantly reduce the overall cost of technology ownership to the University.  The agreement provides highly discounted hardware, technical services, and support related to Windows based workstations.  UNM and HSC departments are now required to purchase from the standard configured Dell models in Lobomart or provide a request for an exception.  The exception process exists solely to identify and evaluate departmental needs that are not met with the standard configurations provided in the Dell contract.

Even with the exception the following will apply:

1)  For all our purchase exceptions we ask departments to identify the person who will support the equipment (usually this is someone in one of the UNM IT jobs, but it could be another computer skilled person in the department).

2)  We (HSC IT) wouldn't install Office Suite, Anti-Virus, Outlook, etc. if it needs to be used for clinical service, it wouldn't have Citrix either to access Cerner.  Specifically, here are the risks to the institution if the device is used:

a.  this device would not be part of our managed anti-virus and encryption system which is the largest of all of the risks.

b.  the device would not be on our Active Directory Domain, where we enforce policies on the workstations, push out software, and manage updates and patches. 

c.  device support will not be handled within the HSC which could leave the department bearing the costs of repairs and arranging for warranty replacement and if the storage unit on the device fails, then there is not a process to protect the sensitive data on the drive if the device is returned to the vendor.
