The Early Childhood Network (ECN) serves as New Mexico's statewide workforce development and systems support partner for the Family Infant Toddler (FIT) Program and the broader early intervention (Part C) system. Since 1990, in collaboration with the New Mexico Early Childhood Education and Care Department (ECECD), ECN has translated statewide priorities and policies into high-quality practice by providing professional development, coaching, technical assistance, and continuous quality improvement initiatives. The ECN advances a coordinated, family-centered early intervention system for infants, toddlers, and families across New Mexico to strengthen workforce capacity, support evidence-based implementation, and foster cross-system collaboration.
Our work is grounded in the belief that every infant and toddler with developmental delays or disabilities—and every family—deserves access to high-quality, family-centered early intervention services delivered by a skilled and supported workforce.
ECN strengthens and sustains New Mexico’s early intervention workforce through comprehensive professional development, coaching, mentoring, and technical assistance that promote evidence-based, relationship-focused practices across the state.
We strive toward a statewide early intervention system in which every FIT provider is supported, reflective, and equipped to deliver coordinated, family-centered services that help children and families thrive.
ECN serves as a statewide hub for learning, collaboration, and quality improvement. We support New Mexico’s early intervention system by emphasizing the following skills:
In partnership with ECECD, we design and deliver professional learning opportunities that support the implementation of New Mexico's early intervention system. Through online learning, professional development events, workforce initiatives, and partnerships with higher education institutions, we strengthen provider knowledge, skills, and leadership capacity while helping build and sustain a qualified early intervention workforce.
We support the implementation of evidence-based practices through statewide coaching, mentorship, and fidelity supports. Our coaching systems help providers strengthen their work with children and families in everyday routines and relationships.
We partner with FIT programs across New Mexico to address challenges, strengthen service quality, and support continuous improvement through consultation, leadership development, and collaborative learning opportunities.
We provide training and mentorship, while implementing support for developmental assessment practices. We help providers use assessment information that is reliable, meaningful, and family-centered.
As a statewide partner, ECN works alongside ECECD, FIT leadership, advisory groups, and community partners to strengthen alignment, communication, and innovation across New Mexico’s early intervention system.
All online courses are hosted in the UNM HSC Moodle System which ECLN uses to host its online courses. Participants must register for a free Moodle account in order to access the courses.
