About the Home Visiting Training (HVT) Program

The Home Visiting Training (HVT) Program serves as New Mexico's statewide workforce development and systems support partner for the home visiting system. In partnership with the New Mexico Early Childhood Education and Care Department (ECECD), we translate statewide priorities into practice through professional development, reflective learning opportunities, technical assistance, and continuous quality improvement efforts.

Our work is grounded in the belief that strong relationships are at the heart of effective home visiting. By supporting the professionals who work alongside families every day, we help strengthen the capacity of New Mexico's home visiting system to promote healthy child development, caregiver well-being, and family resilience.

To strengthen and sustain New Mexico's home visiting workforce through professional development, reflective practice, consultation, and systems support.

We strive toward a home visiting system in which every professional is supported, connected, and equipped to build meaningful partnerships with families and promote positive outcomes for young children and families.

What We Do

HVT serves as a statewide hub for learning, collaboration, and quality improvement. We support New Mexico’s ECECD home visiting system by emphasizing the following skills:

Professional Learning and Workforce Development

We provide foundational and advanced learning opportunities that strengthen knowledge, skills, and leadership across New Mexico's home visiting workforce. Through orientations, specialized training sessions, and ongoing professional development, we support professionals at every stage of their careers.

Reflective Practice and Professional Growth

We create opportunities for reflection, connection, and shared learning through reflective supervision support, learning communities, consultation, and relationship-based training approaches. These experiences help professionals sustain themselves in work that is both meaningful and complex.

Technical Assistance and Continuous Quality Improvement

We partner with home visiting programs across the state to address challenges and strengthen program quality through consultation, collaborative problem-solving, and continuous improvement efforts.

Systems Partnership and Collaboration

We work alongside ECECD, home visiting programs, and community partners to strengthen communication, shared learning, and collaboration across New Mexico's home visiting system. Through these partnerships, we help connect people, resources, and ideas to provide high-quality services for children and families throughout the state.

Online Training for Home Visiting Staff

The CDD ECLN Home Visiting Consultant project has developed the following online training courses (Moodle) that are recommended for all Home Visitors, Supervisors and Program Managers. These trainings were created as an orientation to Home Visiting work, with the intent to increase Home Visitor’s knowledge and understanding of the work they do with families and babies in New Mexico.
