Guided by the values of excellence in education, patient care and research, as well as a commitment to service, quality and safety, the HSC Office of Research’s mission is to provide an opportunity for all New Mexicans to obtain an excellent education in the health sciences. As a majority-minority state, this will ensure that all New Mexicans have access to the highest quality health care.
This office promotes inclusivity and diversity throughout the UNM HSC. It also engages communities across New Mexico to advance health equity through programs and sustainable, collaborative partnerships. A diverse and inclusive HSC fosters health and well-being throughout New Mexico by weaving cultural humility and respect for all people.
- Community Health
The HSC Office for Community Health is connecting with communities across New Mexico to provide services and resources, collaborate and partner with others to build strong and healthy communities, and study and solve health problems. An overarching unit, it oversees several innovative programs and initiatives, as well as being charged with addressing minority health issues across the state. Some of these initiatives include the Native American Coalition for Community Health and Wellness, the Health Extension Rural Offices, the Coalition for Hispanic/Latino Health Initiatives and the New Mexico Immunization Coalition.
- Academic Affairs
This office furthers the overall vision and mission of the Health Sciences Center by providing excellent and efficient support to HSC students and faculty. It offers resources to students on interprofessional education, recruitment, professionalism, registrar and other student services, and has a dedicated staff for Native American student support. HSC faculty members receive career development, peer mentoring, professionalism, and recruitment, hiring and retention.
