The people and mission! Everyone from staff, my coresidents, to attending physicians, are super kind, welcoming, and helpful. My coresidents, senior residents, attending physicians, and staff are all incredibly supportive. I'm new to New Mexico, and my coresidents are my primary friend group here. I feel like I can talk to my coresidents and attending physicians about anything from our weekend social plans together to more serious matters like career/life trials, tribulations, goals, and opportunities. Attending physicians encourage residents to take ownership of our patients and teach relevant clinical/boards pearls daily. I'm very lucky to work in a happy, super educational environment every day and to provide care to those who are unable to be helped otherwise. UNM dermatology's dedication to serving as this region's safety net, providing care to all persons, regardless of financial background, was another compelling reason for me to rank UNM Derm #1. I see patients from all walks of life, all academic/social/racial/financial backgrounds every day. Providing care to underserved persons at our main Albuquerque clinics and our Gallup Clinic is quite rewarding.
The scenery, skies, mountains, sunsets, and culture! I love it :)
