Growing up on the Navajo Reservation in Upper Fruitland, New Mexico, my fascination with medicine blossomed during my well-child visits to the IHS hospital in Shiprock. This deepened when I followed with a Diné physician who seamlessly blended Western and traditional medicine into his practice. From these experiences I wanted to have a similar impact in my community as a family physician. I love family medicine in that I have opportunities to nurture holistic wellbeing and long-lasting patient relationships across families. Community medicine speaks to me profoundly as I acknowledge health as a combination of social, economic, and environmental factors. This focus fostered by UNM enables me to engage with patients across all life stages and I embrace the challenge of promoting health across generations. I am so happy to be returning home to New Mexico for residency training and the opportunity to pursue my interests in Native health, rural health, integrative medicine and mental health. Outside of medicine, I love exploring state and national parks or participating in community such as concerts, farmer/food markets, powwows, sporting events, to name a few.
