I grew up near Portland, Oregon, but much of my motivation for medicine stemmed from my extended family that live in more rural areas of the country. Witnessing the consequences of limited access to healthcare and low health literacy solidified my goal to pursue primary care. During medical school, my rural medicine rotation was transformative, highlighting the value of full-spectrum care. I found great fulfillment in navigating between the hospital, community clinic, and offering continuity of care for obstetric patients. I chose family medicine because of my desire to practice a broad range of medical disciplines while building long term relationships with patients and addressing social determinants of health.
UNM stood out to me because of its commitment to full-scope healthcare, reproductive health education, and supporting medically underserved communities. My interests also include point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS), community pipeline projects, lifestyle medicine, and outpatient procedures. Outside of medicine, I look forward to enjoying the Southwest’s sunshine and continuing my outdoor hobbies with my husband and dog.
