My journey in medicine always featured a dream of returning home to be a doctor for my community. I grew up in Albuquerque, New Mexico, fueled by green chile and sopapillas. After graduating from Sandia High School with a QuestBridge Scholarship, I attended Vassar College for my undergraduate education where I continued my passion for dancing and majored in chemistry. I spent a year after graduating nannying in NYC, then travelled South to Duke University for medical school. In 2022, I matched in the NYU Plastic Surgery Residency in New York, and during my second year there found myself unfulfilled and longing to align more with my values of caring for and healing people. I wanted to really know my patients. So, I took time off to relearn who I was and who I wanted to be, and pivoted! I am so ecstatic to come back to work and serve the folks that raised me in a city with dynamic needs and enchanting landscapes.
To quote Dolly Parton:
“I often think about where I have been
Where I am goin' and that's about when I think about
Home
Where the soul finds comfort and the heart finds pleasure
Home
Where the depths of love is hard to measure
It's home”
I am beyond grateful for this opportunity.
