Realizing that Family Medicine was for me took quite some time. I entered medical school knowing I wanted to work with the pediatric population; however, throughout my training, I found myself reluctant to let go of adult medicine. My experience at the SE Heights Clinic was when I first realized how much I value and enjoy the field of Family Medicine. The mentors and preceptors I had along the way made it an easy decision – Family Medicine was the right fit for me. Reflecting on my experiences, I realized that I have a strong interest in mental health and in working with underserved and underrepresented populations, such as individuals with IDD and members of the Vietnamese community. I am excited for what lies ahead and the opportunities to learn the most effective ways I can care for my community.
