I chose family medicine because I want to make a positive impact in rural communities that need well-trained physicians who can provide a broad spectrum of care. I also plan on working in humanitarian medicine, which requires physicians who are competent in outpatient, inpatient, emergency, and obstetrical care. I decided upon UNM Santa Fe Family Medicine for residency because of my excellent experience during my sub-internship with the Family Medicine Inpatient Service in Albuquerque, and the program’s commitment to underserved populations in New Mexico. Additionally, my hobbies include skiing, rock climbing, mountaineering, fishing, hunting, music, and cooking, and northern New Mexico would be an ideal location for all of those activities.
