The Center for Inclusive Health (CIH) was founded to bring care where it’s needed most—on the streets, in shelters, and alongside communities too often overlooked. While our Mobile Medical Teams form the heartbeat of CIH, our founders envisioned three additional domains working together to amplify impact, advance knowledge, and drive innovation.
Our Four Domains
Mobile Medical Teams Deliver primary and preventive care directly to people experiencing homelessness and other underserved populations.
Education & Training Equip medical, PA, and advanced learners with hands-on experience in street-based care, bridging classroom learning with community engagement.
Strategic Partnerships Collaborate with leaders like the Street Medicine Institute and USC Street Medicine Team to co-design best practices and mentorship opportunities.Program Development & Research Evaluate and refine our clinical models to ensure each service is evidence-informed, scalable, and sustainable.
Street Medicine Clinical Experience
Launched in 2023, our Street Medicine rotation offers medical and PA students an immersive elective rooted in real-world mobile care. Co-created with national street medicine experts, UNM HSC faculty, residents, and learners, the curriculum emphasizes:
Interprofessional teamwork
Harm-reduction principles
Community-driven engagement
This unique training positions UNM HSC as a destination for future clinicians passionate about health equity.
Street Medicine ECHO
In Fall of 2023, CIH partnered with ECHO and the Street Medicine Institute to launch the Street Medicine ECHO. This once-a-month virtual series provides didactic and case-based learning to providers and staff from around the globe. It has become a catalyst for ongoing education, strong professional relationships, and peer support among street medicine teams.
Monthly sessions featuring expert-led lectures and interactive case discussions
Opportunities to present local challenges and receive feedback from an international community
A collaborative network that fosters mentorship, resource-sharing, and collective problem-solving
