• Must have received a Ph.D. or equivalent degree from an accredited college or university in the United States, or its equivalent in another country, within one year of application to ASERT.
• Be a U.S. citizen, non-citizen national, or permanent U.S. resident.
• Have a strong interest in developing outstanding teaching as well as research skills.

• Interest in teaching at partner institutions.
• Demonstrated or expressed interest in interactive student-centered approaches to teaching.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Prior teaching experience (such as teaching assistantships or other forms of apprenticeship).

Health Science Center postdoctoral fellows not in the ASERT-IRACDA program may participate in ASERT with agreement of their research mentors. In such cases, fellows may gain teaching experience through numerous opportunities at UNM.
