Resident Retreats

In September 2022 our Pathology Residency Program had an overnight wellness retreat in Taos Ski Valley as part of our commitment to provide wellness activities and teambuilding experiences for our residents. The residents, directors, and coordinator carpooled up to Taos for educational discussions, great food, and team bonding. We were able to go for hikes and play games and stopped at the historic Taos Pueblo on the way home.

For our 2023 retreat, we gathered in Albuquerque for a New Mexican feast at El Pinto Restaurant and worked together to solve a mystery in order to exit an Escape Room! 

Santa Fe was our destination in 2024. We had lunch right off the plaza at Fiesta Oaxaca and then the group went to the popular Meow Wolf, an immersive multimedia art experience!

In 2025 we had a fun visit to the Electric Playhouse, where together we enjoyed motion-based games and interactive experiences, as well as lunch. 

Most recently, we kept it local and stayed in Albuquerque and revisited two favorites: the Escape Room for a group challenge and El Pinto Restaurant for a fabulous meal together!

Although the retreat location may change from year to year, the program is committed to finding ways to support each other and grow. The intention of the retreat is to share and reflect with one another and in return become a more cohesive team working within the UNM health system.
