Why UNM is My Choice for Residency: There are many reasons why I chose UNM, but the main reason was I felt a sense of peace and felt at home during my short stay in Albuquerque. I knew I wanted to stay in the Southwest, and I loved being so close to the mountains. The view from the morning report conference room blew me away on interview day. All the residents and faculty that I met were so welcoming and seemed to genuinely care about each other. I also knew that since UNM is the only children’s hospital in New Mexico, I would receive a great education and see a wide variety of pathology. My co-residents have become like family, and I am grateful that I am training here at UNM!
Favorite Things About UNM: We are all willing to help each other out, especially when emergencies or other things come up in our personal lives.
Favorite Things About NM: There are many festivals year-round! Examples: Lavender festival, wine festival, Balloon Fiesta, chocolate and coffee fest, holiday twinkle light parade, etc. I enjoy taking in the beautiful scenery by going on motorcycle drives. I like camping, going on hikes, and exploring the various hot springs in the state.
