Why UNM is My Choice for Residency: I fell in love with UNM after interview day when I had a chance to meet the residents and attendings. Everyone was really warm, welcoming, and smart. During morning report, everyone was engaged and supportive. I got the feeling that this was an environment where I would learn to be an excellent physician but also a place where I could ask all of my questions without feeling judged.
Favorite Things About UNM: I love my co-residents and seniors! From day one I have felt supported. I am encouraged to take autonomy over my patients but I also never feel like I have to make decisions alone. The attendings are also incredibly approachable and are very willing to teach. I feel lucky I matched here every single day!
Favorite Things About NM: I love the proximity to the mountains and the numerous cuisines in Albuquerque. I love exploring the hole-in-the-wall restaurants that make the most delicious foods! Also, there are a bunch of breweries to explore. The east side of the mountains are my favorite because there are tons of lush green trees, which remind me of home.
