Why UNM is My Choice for Residency: UNM was on my radar early on when applying to residencies, and my interview day only confirmed I would love it here. I was looking for a program that would provide well-rounded training, exposure to all levels of care and pathology, and serve a diverse patient population, but also treat its residents with respect and kindness. I can easily say UNM's pediatric program provides all of this and more. I was impressed by UNM's policies and ideas on resident wellness, the presence of a resident union, and the approachability and openness of all the residents and attendings I met.

Beyond this, the mountains, breweries, amazing food, and laid-back, friendly culture of Albuquerque make it an easy place to enjoy life outside of work. I love that it's a city without big city traffic and with an accessible outdoors. There are so many places to explore in New Mexico, and it is a truly a gem of the southwest!
