Why UNM is My Choice for Residency: I really like the diversity in the patient population as well as the complexity and acuity of presentations. I knew it would be a good environment for me to be challenged and learn both bread and butter pediatrics as well as more complex patient care.
Favorite Things About UNM: The program is very supportive of residents' career goals. I enjoy that I have seen patients from all walks of life and been given the opportunity to advocate for patients who otherwise cannot advocate for themselves.
Favorite Things About NM: I love that we are close to the mountains and there are a lot of things to do outdoors, while also being in an urban area. My spouse is Navajo and I am glad to be near the reservations to attend cultural events to expose our toddler to their teachings. My favorite event is Balloon Fiesta, which is unique to Albuquerque, and arguably the best time of year.
