Why UNM is My Choice for Residency: The biggest draw for me was UNM's large catchment area. Not only do we see patients from all over New Mexico, we even get interesting cases from the surrounding states like Arizona, Colorado, and Texas. The great food, distinct seasonal weather, and low cost-of-living were just extra bonuses.

Favorite Things About UNM: Despite the cliche, I genuinely believe my colleagues are bright spots of our programs. Each resident, faculty member, and ancillary staff member are highly motivated to do what's best for the patient and are eager to see each other succeed.

Favorite Things About NM: New Mexico has something for everyone! If you're interested in the outdoors, you can do local hikes in the Sandia Mountains just east of ABQ or even explore natural marvels like the Bisti Badlands or the Carlsbad Caverns. If you're interested in breweries, we have numerous options that are unique to NM. If you're interested in sporting events, it's always fun to join the home crowd when the Isotopes or the United play!
