Why UNM is My Choice for Residency: I ranked UNM because even through virtual interviews I felt like the PD was open to feedback and had the best interest of the residents at heart. All of the residents I talked with seemed like they enjoyed their job and, although difficult, were learning and growing as doctors. They also all had great relationships and truly seemed like a family. Another reason I ranked UNM is because I wanted to stay on the west side of the country relatively close to family. There were options here in NM for my husband and we were able to buy a house here, which were big deciding factors.

Favorite Things About UNM: I love the other residents and the support we all provide to one another. My mentor has been incredible and has been extremely helpful during my intern year and continues to do so.

Favorite Things About NM: I have 2 young kids and a lot of my fun/down time is spent going to the zoo, aquarium, and Explora Science Center and Children's Museum. We enjoy playing at home in our backyard and going to the park as well. I love the neighborhood that I live in and New Mexican cuisine. There is a lot of camaraderie in the state as a whole and we have access to all of the things I wanted in a city.
