Why UNM is My Choice for Residency: I chose UNM because everyone during my interview day was so warm and welcoming! The program also emphasized things that really mattered to me including resident wellness, DEI, and working with an underserved population that provided unique challenges which would make me a better pediatrician in the future.

Favorite Things About UNM: My favorite part of being a resident of this program is how all of the residents and faculty really look out for each other. We make sure that even when times get busy and overwhelming, we are still supporting our peers. The program is also very responsive to us as residents and will make rapid changes to address any issues or concerns. Another aspect I like about this program is that we offer fellowships to PEM, PHM, NICU, and Child Abuse. I feel that we are able to learn more working alongside our fellows and it does not subtract from any learning opportunities we have as residents.

Favorite Things About NM: There are many things I like to do for fun here! I love to eat and I explore places through their food; Albuquerque, and New Mexico in general, provide unique dishes that you won't find elsewhere. I also like to spend time outdoors to burn off those calories and there are plenty of trails for running/walking and biking all over the state. I am also attempting to learn how to snowboard, and having a ski resort only about 1.5 hours away makes it very accessible.
