Dr. Clark Ross
“As Vice Chair for Research of the UNM Department of Surgery, I welcome you to the Office of Surgical Research, where we have details about our ongoing services and projects including the SANDIA 2025 - Surgical Advancements in New Developments and Innovative Applications research symposium happening on June 13, 2025.
The Office of Surgical Research has grown to support our faculty, residents, and medical students and continue our commitment to research that improves the field of surgery and ultimately informs the care we deliver day-to-day. We support many different types of studies – from retrospective chart reviews to clinical trials. Additionally, we support faculty wishing to advance their research careers and pursue extramural funding.
Services include IRB help, study coordination, invoicing, regulatory monitoring, budgeting, and submission of grants to the Sponsored Projects Office. Additionally, we host a monthly Research Club meeting every third Monday of the month where we discuss the Department's research mission and identify actionable areas where we can improve faculty and trainee access to the tools they need to do the research they are passionate about. We also hear and provide feedback to presenters showcasing their work on the national stage.”
