Dr. Inaba brings his expertise in trauma, emergency surgery, and surgical critical care to research, education, and patient care.
His research has primarily focused on patient resuscitation, emergent bleeding control methods, and prehospital lifesaving interventions. Dr. Inaba has been the principal or co-investigator on 24 grants, totaling over $7 million. He has given over 450 lectures and has authored more than 750 peer-reviewed articles, 470 scientific presentations, and 65 book chapters. He is an editor for 9 textbooks and an Associate Editor for the Journal of Trauma and Acute Care Surgery as well as Trauma Surgery and Acute Care Open.
Dr. Inaba has received over 25 teaching awards, including the USC Keck School of Medicine Overall Excellence in Teaching Award for Clinical Sciences, a Master Teacher distinction, and the Leonard Tow Humanism in Medicine Award.
He is a director for the American Board of Surgery and a member of more than a dozen surgical societies. He is also the Chair of the American College of Surgeons’ Stop the Bleed program committee, which has reached nearly 4 million people worldwide. He has also led humanitarian medical and surgical relief teams to Ukraine, Nepal, and Haiti.
