A formal clearance procedure is required of all Houseofficers as they exit their UNM GME program. This includes Houseofficers moving to a faculty position with UNM.
GME will email outgoing Houseofficers instructions to successfully offboard using New Innovations.

You may elect to continue coverage through COBRA. Following your employment termination date, a COBRA enrollment packet will be mailed to your address on file in the UNM system. If you are moving into a faculty position at UNM Hospital or UNM, please contact your program for information on their benefit plans. Enrollment is not automatic. Your benefits end on the last day of the month in which employment ends. Rates are subject to change every academic year.

While engaged in residency program activities, you were covered by the State of New Mexico Risk
Management Division, pursuant to the New Mexico Tort Claims Act, Section 41-4-1 et seq., NMSA 1978.
Insurance of the per occurrence type will be provided under that act. This did not extend to external
moonlighting activities. For claims history requests, please have hiring institution contact the GME
office at GMEOffice@salud.unm.edu.
In an effort to reduce on-site visits to the UNM Employee Occupation Health Services, this statement will be deemed sufficient in your exiting.
