Each year, the UNM College of Nursing awards more than $270,000 in departmental scholarships. Individual scholarship amounts range from $200-$4,000 annually.
Students are encouraged to explore and apply for multiple scholarship opportunities from the College, University, federal and private options.
College scholarships are provided to the College by way of endowed and non-endowed contributions by alumni, corporations, foundations and other benefactors. Students are eligible based on need, merit based and other criteria. Typically awards vary from $500-3,000 for fall and spring terms.
There are many opportunities for students — over 71 million dollars in scholarships are awarded annually at the University of New Mexico, with thousands of new students receiving an award. Scholarships are merit-based and awards are competitive.
There are many options to earning a scholarship and some are outside of the University. Our financial aid team compiled a list of external scholarships that our students have received.

The University Of New Mexico College of Nursing is committed to helping all students excel and achieve their full potential regardless of citizenship status. Although, not eligible for Federal Student Aid, Undocumented and DACA students may be eligible to receive a variety of state, institutional, and private sources of financial aid to fund their legal education. Please review the various forms of available financial aid below.
You may apply for a private student loan- https://www.elmselect.com/v4/ through the private lender of your choice. In some cases, a credit worthy co-signer that is at least 18 years of age and a US Citizen or Permanent Legal Resident may be required. Your eligibility will be determined by the lender. The Financial Aid Office does not have access to private lender applications, nor does UNM endorse any lender. You will need to contact the lender/bank directly for information on the private loan application process.
