DeGroot-Atkins Scholarship
The Rotary Club of Rio Rancho offers the DeGroot-Atkins Scholarship to nursing students pursuing an RN license or advanced degree in nursing each year. Scholarship amounts range from $1,00 to $10,000 and will be awarded for the Spring and/or Summer terms. Applications are due December 1, 2023.

Undergraduate scholarships are available to students currently enrolled in a state-approved nursing program leading to an associate degree, baccalaureate, diploma, direct-entry master’s degree, RN to BSN/MSN completion, LPN/LVN to RN, or accelerated programs. Funds are not available for graduate study unless it is for a first degree in nursing.

The Health Professional Scholarship Program (HPSP) provides financial assistance to students receiving education or training in a direct or indirect health-care services discipline (Title 38 and Hybrid Title 38 occupations); and assists in providing an adequate supply of such personnel for the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). HPSP helps the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) meet its need for qualified health care professionals for which recruitment or retention is difficult.

HRSA Nurse Corps Scholarship Program
The National Health Service Corps Scholarship Program (NHSC SP) awards scholarships to students pursuing eligible primary care health professions training.
Recipients commit to a minimum two years of full-time service in exchange for a full year of scholarship support. You must serve at an NHSC-approved site in a HPSA. The total number of years you serve will depend on the number of school years of NHSC SP support you received. (This cannot exceed four school years.)

Nurse Faculty Loan Program (NFLP)
The College of Nursing has limited Nurse Faculty Loan funding for graduate students who have a goal of teaching nursing at the university/college level upon degree completion. The typical award covers full or partial tuition, fees and book allowance. There is a service payback commitment of teaching in a nursing program for 4 years at the public university/college level within 12 months following graduation. The service obligation results in cancellation of 85% of the loan. A student may be awarded up to 5 years in funding if funding is available.
