The Medical College Admissions Test (MCAT) is required for admissions to the University of New Mexico School of Medicine. The American Medical College Application Service (AMCAS) will transmit the scores to the School of Medicine with your application.
To receive consideration for the admissions process, applicants must have a minimum total numerical MCAT score of 494.
The University of New Mexico School of Medicine will NOT accept MCAT exam scores that are more than four years old at the time of application. MCAT scores from 2021 through 2024 will be accepted for the 2025 application cycle. At this time, September 14, 2024 will be the latest test date from which an MCAT score will be considered for the 2025 application cycle.
For applicants who decide to take the MCAT more than once, the committee will use the highest composite score received at the time of interview. Any subsequent scores received after the interview will not be considered for the current application cycle. All past MCAT scores are visible to the Admissions Committee and are taken into consideration.
Applicants who have an existing score, have not yet taken the MCAT, or have not received their score for a recently taken MCAT exam at the time of submission should include the test dates for upcoming or recently taken MCAT exams on their AMCAS application. This will inform the Office of Admissions to hold the application until all scores are received.
Additional questions about the MCAT should be directed to Office of Admissions by phone 505-272-4766 or email somadmissions@salud.unm.edu.
