The mission of the Anesthesiology Informatics Service is to assist the department in fulfilling its mission goals related to clinical care, education, quality improvement, and research. For the purposes of this committee, informatics is understood as the practice of using data, information and knowledge to improve human health and the delivery of healthcare services. We are a group of anesthesia providers made up of faculty, residents, and advanced practitioners who share an interest in improving healthcare through advancements in technology.
Projects
Collaborated with the University of New Mexico Medical Group (UNMMG) to use their data warehouse server to securely store adverse patient events
Created a Smartsheet based dashboard to track quality improvement projects
Creation of a unified cloud based storage system for secure departmental use within the OR and outside of it
Continuous process improvements within our Cerner electronic medical record (EMR)
Participation in the system wide informatics committee
Data analytics for departmental quality and education projects
Reduced pharmaceutical waste by creation of a reporting dashboard matching dispense vs utilization
