Owen Connelly Vaquer, MD 

Family has always been a core value of mine, and getting to know the family means knowing the whole person. Family medicine allows me to care for patients at every step of their life--from prenatal planning to after-death counseling. It also allows me to practice a wide range of medicine which is not possible in more narrow specialties. In particular, I am excited to integrate aspects that have long been overlooked in healthcare: mental health, addiction, socioeconomic impacts, and cultural differences. The University of New Mexico Family Residency program is the perfect place to nurture these interests, as their curriculum focuses on treating patients at every major milestone, and they offer many opportunities for me to dive deeper into helping the whole person.
