Hello, Martina here! I am so excited to join the UNM Family Medicine program. I am from northern California and studied Psychobiology at UCLA, where I coached Special Olympics for four years. After undergrad, I taught special education at a high school in New Jersey. The relationships I developed with athletes and students while promoting health influenced my interest in primary care. I attended medical school at UC San Diego, where I was involved with the Student Run Free Clinic, and I received an MPH at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health because I was interested in learning more about community-centered partnerships and population health. I love Family Medicine because I can build longitudinal relationships and learn from patients of all ages/experiences. I look forward to partnering with and empowering patients, especially those who need a PCP the most. I am particularly interested in reproductive healthcare, maternal/child and adolescent health, and education/teaching. I am thrilled to train at UNM because I am surrounded by a team that deeply cares about serving the community, patient-centered care, and health equity. In my free time, I love hiking/camping, rock climbing, basketball, cooking, reading, live music, and quality time with family and friends!
