After rotating in four different orthopaedics departments as a medical student, I found that The University of New Mexico (UNM) easily had the happiest group of residents who were well supported, had unmatched clinical and operative experience, and maintained meaningful lives outside of the hospital. It was obvious that UNM was the place that I could achieve my career goals and become an excellent surgeon while also thriving as a person, family member, and friend. Albuquerque is a beautiful place to live. The food, mountains, and community make for a great location to train. New Mexico's diverse population also affords residents the opportunity to learn from and serve the patients who need it most. Working at the only level-one trauma center in the state brings unique patient encounters and prepares residents to confidently handle anything that comes through the door. Outside of medicine, I enjoy all things sports, including pick-up basketball, bogey golf, fantasy football, and watching LeBron James. I also thrive on music (particularly, hip hop beats), salsa dancing, and tacos.
