The University of New Mexico Department of Pathology is committed to improving human health through world-class research, education, and patient care. Educational programs include residency training programs, subspecialty fellowships, postgraduate fellowships, medical laboratory sciences, courses for medical students, and broad graduate training. The department also provides clinical and consultative pathology and is home to many nationally known researchers.
Some 60 faculty, 10 graduate students and post-doctoral fellows, 30 residents and clinical fellows, and 25 administrative and technical staff are located at UNM. TriCore Reference Laboratories located close to campus employs more than 1,300 pathology-aligned professionals.
