The affiliation with tri-core (high volume reference testing), particularly the hotseat rotation, is truly unique. Learning how labs operate and problem troubleshooting translates rather directly to supplemental income after residency (last time I checked a single pathologist can oversee up to five labs). In terms of setting the program apart, I think it's worth noting home ownership rates; I doubt many urban programs have comparable rates among their residents. Also, Step 3 is covered (does not come out of yearly funds), secure and covered parking at UH, staff and fellow residents that are motivated and approachable.
