Why UNM is My Choice for Residency: When I was researching programs during medical school, I looked for ones that served a diverse population, with opportunities for advocacy. I was really interested in UNM for these reasons, and when I did a sub-internship, I fell in love with UNM and Albuquerque. The program had exactly what I was looking for. Caring for patients from all over New Mexico, we have the opportunity to work with a large underserved population. We serve a diversity of patients from different socioeconomic backgrounds. There are so many ways you can get involved to advocate for your patients. During my sub-internship, I really felt at home in Albuquerque with all the cultures and good food. There are so many outdoor activities during all seasons. And most importantly, I had a blast working with the residents and staff. Everyone is so hard-working, down to earth, and supportive of one another.
Favorite Things About UNM: We have a strong community among our residents, attendings, and staff. I really enjoy working here every day. It is a healthy, fun learning environment.
Favorite Things About NM: The foooood! I enjoy exploring local restaurants and markets! I fell in love with the local community for the people, food, cultures, and fun activities.
