Why UNM is My Choice for Residency: When I began making my rank list, a lot of information was running through my head. I wanted a program where the residents were friends and had each other's backs even during the hard times; I wanted a program that was well organized and provided unique opportunities for learning; and I wanted one that I felt comfortable calling home for at least the next three years, if not more. I felt like UNM established these expectations from the interview day and has continued to meet them since I became a resident. From the moment I stepped into the hospital and met the residents, faculty, and staff, I felt a sense of family. They were genuine and happy, and they are the kind of people that I knew I could depend on. They have provided great learning opportunities and a unique culture to work with. And slowly, but surely, Albuquerque has grown on me and I have come to love the community and people that I work with.
