Radiologic Sciences Application Process

Check Deadlines

• Bachelor of Science Medical Imaging in Radiologic Sciences - applications due before each semester. Accepted students must be admitted to UNM and have an associates degree in Radiologic Technology or Sonography. Students are accepted into the Radiologic Sciences program each semester upon completion of gaining ARRT or ARDMS certification. 
• The Bachelor of Science in Nuclear Medicine - applications are due first Friday in April.
• Advanced CT and Advanced MRI certificate - applications are due by first Friday in April.
• CT SERS (Structured Education Requirements) Certificate - Check with program
• CT NOW - Check with program 

Minimum Application Requirements (See Eligibility for each program)

Our minimum application requirements state that applicants must:

• Be a U.S. citizen, resident with a valid work permit, or visitor with a J-1 visa
• Be proficient in reading and speaking English and may be asked for verification.
• BSRS Medical Imaging, CT or MRI program applicants must be certified by ARRT in either Radiography or Nuclear Medicine and must have an Associate's Degree or higher.
• BSRS Nuclear Medicine applicants should consult with the Program Advisor for application semester.

Step 2: Submit an Application

• BSRS Medical Imaging Application
• BSRS Nuclear Medicine, Advanced CT or Advanced MRI Application  
• CT or MRI Structured Education Requirements (SERS) Application   
• CT NOW Application

Step 3:  Submit Letters of Recommendation (Nuclear Medicine, CT, MRI, SERS)

• 3 Letters of recommendation
  • Each letter submitted should include a Reference Form
  • Letters and Form should be mailed to:

    OR can be emailed directly from the referee to:  stmcintyre@salud.unm.edu
• Once you open the application form, you will be asked to upload all transcripts and the required additional forms listed below:
  • Additional Forms to attach to application 
    • Authorization to Contact Form 
    • Consent for Photography 
    • Reference Form 
    • Grade Verification Form (Nuc Med Only) 
    • Academic Honesty Form 
    • Clinical Observation Log Sheet 
    • SERS Clinical Site Verification (SERS Only) 
  • Current UNM students may submit unofficial copies from LoboTrax (with cumulative GPA of 2.5 or above)
  • Students who have attended other institutions may also submit an unofficial transcript, but will need to submit an official transcript to UNM admissions upon acceptance to our program if they have not applied to UNM yet.
  • Current grades for courses in progress (a note from instructors with current grades) (NUC MED ONLY)

Process After Deadline

1. Applications are reviewed and interviewees selected
