The Radiologic Sciences Program at The University of New Mexico School of Medicine offers educational advancement opportunities through our Bachelors of Science with a concentration in Nuclear Medicine, Bachelors of Science with a concentration in Radiologic Technology, or our Bachelors of Science with a concentration in Medical Imaging (degree completion).
The BSRS in Nuclear Medicine and the BSRS in Radiologic Technology are designed for the UNM undergraduate student to complete as a traditional undergraduate bachelor's degree.
The BSRS in Medical Imaging is a degree completion program that is designed for medical imaging professionals who are ARRT, NMTCB, ARDMS certified.
Certificates in Computed Tomography (CT) and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) are also available to students who complete one of the above BSRS program or who are already ARRT, NMTCB, or ARDMS certified.
The mission of the Radiologic Sciences Programs is to provide a comprehensive and experiential education in the field of health sciences medical imaging. We aim to help students develop the knowledge and skills necessary to deliver high-quality and empathetic care to all populations in New Mexico and beyond.
The Commission on Institutions of Higher Education has granted, through the Higher Learning Commission, reaccreditation to UNM since 1922, and the University holds accreditation in good standing.

Accreditation is a multi-step process designed to ensure the quality of an educational program. Beyond accreditation of a university, some programs can seek programmatic accreditation to show that they meet all of the accepted standards and requirements for that type of program. The programmatic accreditation process involves a detailed self-evaluation, a multi-step plan conducted by the program, followed by an in-depth assessment of the program's curriculum, and an on-site program inspection conducted by peer specialists from the profession.
Nuclear Medicine - Programmatic Accreditation
The Joint Review Committee on Educational Programs in Nuclear Medicine Technology (JRCNMT) is the only programmatic accrediting agency recognized to accredit nuclear medicine technologist educational programs offered through traditional and distance education formats in the United States. The JRCNMT has granted reaccreditation to the UNM Nuclear Medicine program since 2016.
