University of New Mexico Independent Interventional Radiology Residency Program
The University of New Mexico Independent IR Residency is an ACGME-accredited program. Graduates from our program will be eligible to apply for IR/DR certification. We currently have approval for two positions. Candidates for the Independent IR Residency program include ESIR and non-ESIR DR residents. Both ESIR and non-ESIR DR residents will apply during their PGY-4 year and would start as PGY-6.

Step 1: Minimum Application Requirements

Step 3: Submit an ERAS Application
Please send us a completed application through the Electronic Residency Application Service of the Association of American Medical Colleges. Our ACGME ID is 4153400001.
We require 3 letters of recommendation; at least one must be from an interventional radiologist.
Step 4: Receive an Invitation for a Personal Interview
After review of the submitted applications, selected applicants are invited to an online interview with members of our Interventional Radiology Resident Selection Committee (composed of IR faculty, IR residents and our Program Coordinator). Once you are invited for an interview, you may request an available interview date from our online interview calendar. Interview season is typically December - March.
Step 5: Participate in the Independent IR Residency Match
Submit your Rank Order List to the National Resident Match Program.
