UNM Health Sciences Center is proud to be home to both a National Institute of Health (NIH) Clinical and Translational Science Award center and an National Cancer Institute (NCI)-Designated Comprehensive Cancer Center. Formal recognition and infrastructure funding increase local and regional capacity through core facilities, shared resources, and cross-disciplinary engagement. These designated centers serve as hubs for innovation, education and dissemination of best practices.
The UNM CTSC offers a multitude of resources and wide range of services openly available to investigators and research teams, such as a sophisticated clinical research unit, community engagement resources, investigator training programs, biomedical informatics tools, genomic technologies, a clinical research data warehouse, and commercialization facilitation. This infrastructure enables scientific discover to move more rapidly toward enhancing human health.
The NCI-Designated UNM CCC is the primary cancer research, treatment, and care center in New Mexico and a leader in the southwest region. UNM CCC aims to reduce cancer burden in New Mexico and nationally through ground-breaking transdisciplinary and translational research, impactful bi-directional community engagement, education and training of the cancer workforce, and exceptional clinical care. UNM CCC provides state-of-the-art facilities and shared resources, supporting basic scientific discovery, clinical trials, and clinic and community-based studies.
