Teaching and Treating
In addition to training future doctors and medical practitioners, UNM School of Medicine faculty work as attending physicians, treating patients in UNM Health System clinical settings in Albuquerque and Rio Rancho. The faculty practice within:
UNM Hospital and Affiliated Clinics
School of Medicine clinical faculty members are the attending physicians at UNM Hospitals and are responsible for patient care activities. UNM Hospitals also serve as the teaching facilities for medical students and residents.
Albuquerque VA Medical Center
Many School of Medicine faculty members practice medicine at the Albuquerque Veterans' Administration hospital.
Sandoval Regional Medical Center
UNM Sandoval Regional Medical Center (SRMC) is located in the Rio Rancho City Center. The facility is served by hospital-based UNM faculty physicians in the areas of Radiology, Pathology, Emergency Medicine, Anesthesiology, Psychiatry and Hospital Medicine.
UNM Medical Group
UNM Medical Group, Inc. (UNMMG) is the practice plan organization for physicians and other medical providers associated with the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center.
