Collaborative for Hispano/Latino Health Equity
The Collaborative for Hispano/Latino Health Equity (CHLHE) is drawn from faculty, staff and students from across the university. It focuses on improving the social determinants of health for underserved/underrepresented New Mexicans. Its aims include:
- Cultivating cultural and linguistic competence and humility
- Creating innovations in workforce development/career exploration
- Developing health equity policy to improve Hispano/Latino health outcomes
- Leveraging diversity and promoting cultural identity for students, drawing on their strengths and expertise
- Nurturing a community of learners and mentors
- Building bi-directional community-engaged research and training
- Disseminating health innovations that promote Latino health and well-being through community-engaged health services and policy research
- Producing peer-reviewed reports, policy briefs and general-interest articles
