Undergraduate Health Sciences Enrichment Program (UHSEP)

Undergraduate Health Sciences Enrichment Program (UHSEP) is an intense and rewarding multi-week residential summer program for entering first-year college students. This academically rigorous program hosted on the University of New Mexico (UNM) campus provides an on-campus learning environment for students who are interested in a career as a health professional. The program will challenge students with a curriculum that enhances and supports their academic and social development.

The UHSEP Experience 

• Create a personalized roadmap towards your health professions program.  
• Understand and develop the skills, tools resources, and relationships that will impact your undergrad career success.  
• Increase your awareness of the urgent need for diverse healthcare in our state.  
• Stipend upon completion of the program. 

UHSEP Activities may include: 

• Sessions to develop study strategies 
• Campus resources meet and greets 
• Presentations from health professionals  
• Community-based Service Learning projects 
• Hands-on experiences related to health careers  

UHSEP Expectations 

• Participants are expected to commit to the full three-week program plus one-day orientation. 
• Participants are required to live on campus for the duration of the program. 
• Participants may not bring their own vehicles. 
• Participants must comply with The Pathfinder- UNM Student Handbook. Failure to comply with campus policies regarding conduct, academic honesty, and lawful behavior may result in dismissal from the program. 

UHSEP Eligibility 

• Must be a New Mexico resident or Navajo Nation residents
• Have an interest in pursuing a health career 
• Have at least a 2.5 GPA or higher 
• Be an incoming college freshman  
• Have been accepted to, and entering a college/university
