See what our Advanced Practice Providers have to say about UNM!
“I liked the fact that UNM is a Level 1 Trauma Center and has a good variety of cases and patients. I like the anesthesia group as a whole, everyone works well together. I like Albuquerque due to the variety of outdoor activities (hiking, biking, climbing, skiing). It’s relatively close to many cool places like Sedona, Moab and Denver… It’s also less crowded and less expensive than Denver, but I still have mountains to enjoy!”
Amy Ertler, CAA
“UNM appealed to me because it’s a Level 1 Trauma Center, but also covers the outpatient center and pediatric hospital. So you have every opportunity to practice anesthesia in different settings and do the types of cases you enjoy. I was also drawn to the culture of UNM, which fosters continuing education in a supportive environment, departmental camaraderie and good work/life balance. I was drawn to Albuquerque for the outdoor recreation. I’m very excited to be within driving distance of many state parks, good camping, hiking, and biking. It has a good climate, great food, and lots of sunshine. The cost of living is much more reasonable than other big cities. Plus the airport is easy to access and easy to get through (10 minutes curb to gate), which makes traveling easy.”
Scott Loberg, CAA
“I liked Albuquerque due to the outdoor lifestyle and decreased traffic compared to Atlanta. At UNM the staff get along and work really well together. A huge plus is the work schedule…also the interview process for UNM was much friendlier and organized than other places I had applied to.”
Jana Huang, CAA
“The two main reasons that got me were: 1) walking out of the hospital no matter how rough a day and seeing the mountains so close and so beautiful, 2) the short commute to and from work.”
Kevin Kopacz, CAA
“The flexible scheduling at UNM made this job even more invaluable to our lifestyle and traveling to see our families. The cost of living is cheaper here and we don’t have to deal with any traffic.”
Joanna De la Cruz, CAA
“The traffic of Atlanta was ‘driving’ me crazy and the cost of living was extremely high. I wanted a change in atmosphere. UNM offered trauma right out of school, expectations to place lines, do all types of cases, and with a shift schedule.”
